Biography

Ph.D. in Economics 1992. Research topics: Credit Economics, Consumer Overindebtedness, Social and Solidarity Economy, and Regional Economics.

My research focuses on characterizing the specific features of the social and solidarity economy (SSE). My recent and future research contributions, consisting mainly of articles presented at national and international conferences, explore the following themes:

  • The importance of the SSE within the overall economy and reflections on the most appropriate measures for its modes of operation;
  • Characterization of the offerings of SSE structures in relation to the issue of private, collective, and public goods. Study the role of its agents in providing collective and public goods;
  • Governance of SSE structures compared to other supply structures. Putting their performance into perspective concerning the short-long time horizon;
  • The role of SSE in territories and the recent administrative-territorial divisions in France and Europe. Comparative research between French and international SSE structures;
  • Participation in research-action groups aimed at identifying innovative experiments in the SSE to demonstrate their alternative nature.

Administrative & other Duties

  • Co-director of the Master’s program “International Commerce and Finance”, since 2002.
  • Since 2007, we have also been developing a training programme at the University of Limoges’ Service Universitaire de Formation Permanente (SUFOP), which could evolve into a Diplôme Universitaire (DU), then a Licence Professionnelle, devoted to social and solidarity-based entrepreneurship, in collaboration with national trainers and institutional funding bodies such as MAIF, MACIF, and the Caisse d’Epargne. 
  • President of the Regional Chamber of Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) of Limousin since 2005.
  • Member of the SSE National Council, in charge of research.
  • Member of the SSE Studies and Observatories Committee.
  • Vice-President of the Economic and Social Council of the Limousin Region since 2007, responsible for higher education and research (drafting three major reports, the first on the role of associations in regional development and revitalization (presented in October 2008), the second on the effects of the economic and financial crisis on the Limousin economy, and the third implementation of local solidarity-based savings networks).
